Local 1186 Helps Injured Police Officer

AFSCME Local 1186, representing employees from the New Britain Department of Public Works, Board of Education and Housing Authority, presented a $1,000 donation to help Police Officer Brett Morgan, who was seriously injured while investigating a stolen car complaint.

Local 1186 President Susan Egan presented the donation during a Feb. 7 pancake breakfast fundraiser for Officer Morgan.

Mayor Erin Stewart and Police Chief James Wardwell joined Local 1186 members for the presentation.

According to the New Britain Police Department’s website, “Officer Morgan has undergone several surgical procedures and intensive rehabilitation therapy. Officer Morgan will continue his therapy and rehabilitation as an outpatient as he continues to heal and recover from his injuries.”
