First Contract in North Stonington

After voting last year to join Council 4 for a stronger voice at work, members of AFSCME Local 1303-463, Town of North Stonington, have their first collective bargaining agreement in place.

Bargaining Unit President Donald Hill and First Selectman Nicholas Mullane jointly signed the new contract Jan. 21. The three-year agreement includes general wage increases totaling 6%.

“It’s a good start and a fair agreement both sides,” said Hill, an assistant highway foreman. “We’ve gone from being at-will employees to having the protection of a union.”

Added Vice President Mark Tate, [need job title], “Unions level the playing field. We’re looking forward to having Council 4 represent us.”
