Greening Up Old Saybrook

Members of AFSCME Local 1303-278, representing Old Saybrook Town Employees, turned out in force for the first annual Old Saybrook Green Up Day April 27.

Sponsored by Sustainable Saybrook, the event provided volunteers a great opportunity to spruce up their town by collecting litter that’s accumulated along roads and beaches.

“Our members provide vital public services that make Old Saybrook a beautiful place to live, learn and work,” said Local 1303-278 and Assistant Parks and Recreation Director President Ray Allen. “As town employees, we want to do our part to improve the quality of life here.”

Local 1303-278 Secretary and Assistant Town Clerk Tina Antolino praised Green Up Day for fostering a community spirit.

“Our members are dedicated to public service. The majority of us are long-time residents of Old Saybrook. We love the town and we are committed to making it even better,” she said.
