Spreading Holiday Cheer

Across the state, Council 4 members are bringing holiday cheer to the communities where they work and live.

Click here for the FlickR photo album for some of their stories.

Pictured above: Members of AFSCME Local 1303-345, representing rank-and-file city employees of the Water Pollution Control Facility, played Santa Claus and delivered a sleigh’s worth of gifts to the West Haven Community House. The presents included boots, coats, gloves, hats, pants and shirts, and will benefit 10 Community House-sponsored families, specifically children ages 3-12.

Also pictured: The Central Connecticut State University chapter of AFSCME Local 2836, State University Organization of Administrative Faculty, sponsored a succesful toy drive to benefit the Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign. Pictured, from left: Council 4 Staff Rep Kelly Rommel, Local 2836 CCSU Chapter President Lisa Bigelow Corporal Smith and Lance Corporal McKenzie from the Fox Company 25th Marines in Plainville - both CCSU students and Afghanistan veterans.

Thanks to all our local unions who are doing their part to make the holiday season happier for local children and families!
