"When AFSCME fights, AFSCME wins"

With union members and all workers under attack across the country, AFSCME President Lee Saunders called on Council 4 state employees to lead the way in protecting collective bargaining rights and rebuilding our country's fraying middle class.

"You are the heart and soul of your union," Saunders told 125 members of the AFSCME NP-3 State Clerical Bargaining Unit during their annual Stewards Training. "You are the 'go-to' folks. You are the face of Council 4."

Saunders praised state clerical workers and all of our state employee members for their perseverance in negotiating the historic cost-saving and job security agreement with the Malloy administration.

"You achieved something that's unheard of these days: an agreement that doesn't ch ange health care of pensions through 2022," he observed. "In light of what's happening around the country, that's huge."
