|We Make Connecticut Happen|
Take Action on Retirement Security
On April 23, 2014, hundreds of AFSCME members from across the state gathered at the State Capitol to meet with legislators to discuss our legislative agenda to improve the lives of our members and their families.
At the top of our list was the need to help Connecticut workers have enough money to retire after a lifetime of work by creating a voluntary, state-administered retirement savings plan.
Over 740,000 workers in the state do not participate in an employer-sponsored retirement plan. We can change that by passing SB 249: An Act Promoting Retirement Savings. But we need to act quickly before the state legislature adjourns May 7.
We are there at the bargaining table to defend our members retirement security. But many workers are not fortunate enough to work for a unionized company.
