2015 Scholarships


There are a number of local and national scholarships available for Council 4 AFSCME union members and their families.

Scholarship opportunities include:

  • AFSCME Local 1303 Scholarships. AFSCME Local 1303, the voice of 8,000 municipal and board of education workers in Connecticut, is offering five (5) $1,000 scholarships to the children of Local 1303 members who are pursuing college education. Application deadline is April 15, 2015.
  • Richard "Dik" Days Memorial Scholarships. The Days scholarship fund was formed by the UAW Region 9A and CBTU-Connecticut Chapter in collaboration with the Days family to provide assistance to individuals enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program. Application deadline is April 7, 2015.
  • Gerald W. McEntee Scholarship. In honor of former AFSCME Pres. Jerry McEntee this one-time $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an AFSCME member for use towards higher education.
  • AFSCME Family Scholarship. $2,000 renewable scholarship awarded to 10 high school seniors each year.
