E. Windsor Local Supports Community

March 6, 2017

East Windsor, CT, 2017 – The members of AFSCME Local 818, representing East Windsor Town Supervisors, have contributed $750 to three local community causes.

According to Local 818 President Rand Stanley, members voted to contribute $250 to each of the following organizations:

  • The East Windsor Veterans, for the purpose of upgrading the Veterans Memorial Green in town.
  • The Five Corner Cupboard Pantry, which is committed to helping East Windsor residents dealing with food insecurity.
  • The Power Pack Program, a collaboration between the town’s Social Services and Park & Recreation Departments and Five Corner Cupboard Pantry to provide food to at-risk children in the East Windsor school system.

“We appreciate the support of AFSCME Local 818,” said James Barton, chairman of the East Windsor Veterans Commission. “Their contribution helps bring us closer to completing a project that will make us all proud.”
Marie Groves, coordinator of the Five Corner Cupboard, also thanked the local union.

“AFSCME members work hard to make East Windsor a better place for all of us,” she said. “Their contribution will help us meet our mission of ensuring that no one in town goes hungry.”

The East Windsor local union represents 20 town supervisors who provide a wide array of services to residents and businesses.

“We care about the town and the residents we serve,” Stanley said. “We wanted to do something meaningful to support our community, whether it’s respecting the contributions of our veterans or reaching out to those who need a helping hand in a tough economic climate.”
