Workers Vote For Council 4 Difference
Maintenance workers at the Manchester Housing Authority voted to join Council 4.
Congratulations to Manchester Housing Authority employees and many other workers across Connecticut who have voted in union representation elections in to join the Council 4 family. Our newest union members include:
According to the AFL-CIO, AFSCME recorded recording the greatest growth last year among all the federation’s 57 national and international labor unions compared to 2008.
National statistics show union members earn better wages and benefits than workers who aren’t union members.On average, union workers’ wages are 30 percent higher than their nonunion counterparts.
Ledge Light Health District workers voted to join Council 4.
While only 14 percent of nonunion workers have guaranteed pensions, fully 68 percent of union workers do. And, more than 97 percent of union workers have jobs that provide health insurance benefits, but only 85 percent of nonunion workers do.
