We Make Connecticut Happen

Will You Be There Oct. 5 in New Haven?

New Haven workers meet at the Central Labor Council to plan the march and rally.

Concerned by Mayor John DeStefano’s efforts to slash public services and his refusal to listen to workers’ ideas , New Haven workers, their families and their community allies will march to, and demonstrate in front of, New Haven City Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010.

New Haven workers chose Oct. 5 because it is the Mayor’s Night In at City Hall.

Workers will gather at High School in the Community, 175 Water St., to begin their march on City Hall at 4:00 p.m. After a brief speaking program, they will proceed to New Haven City Hall, 165 Church St., where they will march peacefully. A representative group of the workers and their unions will seek to meet with Mayor John DeStefano.

Participating unions include Council 4 and our AFSCME New Haven Locals as well as the Greater New Haven Central Labor Council, UNITE-HERE and the Connecticut AFL-CIO.

Will you be there on Oct 5 to support public services?
