Brightening the Holidays

L-R: Local 1303-079 members Kerry Corvello, Christine Boyle and Eddy Leavitt.

Across the state, Council 4 union members are stepping up to help support the communities where they live and work. Just a few of the many examples:

  • In Brooklyn, members of AFSCME Local 1303-079 (Brooklyn Board of Education) donated phone cards and care packages to our troops deployed in the Middle East.
  • Members of AFSCME Local 3144 (City of New Haven) used their holiday party to spearhead what has annually become one of the largest toy donations in the city.
  • Members of AFSCME Local 2663 (State P-2 Human and Social Services) donated $750 to the Connecticut Food Bank warehouse in East Haven.
  • In Bristol, members of AFSCME Local 2267 (Bristol Board of Education) collected toys for Council 4 to donate jointly to Toys for Tots and the United Labor Agency.
Local 2267 members in Bristol show some of the toys they're donating.

"It's the holiday season, but it's also a tough time for so many people in our state," said Local 2267 President Chad Lockhart. "We hope the toys brighten the holidays for kids and parents."
