Local 1303 Assists Scholars

Continuing its commitment to higher education, AFSCME Local 1303, representing 8,000 municipal and board of education employees, has awarded eight $1,000 scholarships to college-bound students whose parents belong to Local1303 chapters.

Every year, Local 1303 leadership selects scholarship recipients based upon their grades, community involvement and an essay on the importance of union membership.

This year’s student winners (with parents and local unions listed in parenthesis):

  • Lindsay Charlwood (Tonya Charlwood, Local 1303-189)
  • Stephanie Cruz-Rincon (Rosalba Rincon, 1303-036)
  • Aidan Laliberte (Norah Laliberte, 1303-189)
  • Tyler Longolucco (Amber Longolucco, 1303-190)
  • Abigale Shaughnessy (Kathryn Shaughnessy, 1303-046)

In addition, Timothy Leo Falvey (Patty Falvey, 1303-153) won a $400 scholarship donated by American Income Life.
