Council 4 Training

Council 4 provides free training and education opportunities covering areas such as collective bargaining rights, stewards training, leadership roles and responsibilities, grievance and arbitration handling, communications and politics, and much, much more.

Trainings are free and open to members in good standing only. Most trainings are hosted on Zoom, except for Stewards and Tresurers' Training which are typically in person at Council 4 (444 East Main St. New Britain).

AFSCME Training

AFSCME's Online Leadership Academy provides high-quality training and leadership development for AFSCME leaders, stewards and staff, allowing them to enhance their union activism anywhere, at any time. Topics include a new "Local Leadership Essentials" series (how to run Local union meetings & roles and responsibilities) and "Steward Fundamentals" (grievance handling, solving workplace problems, etc).

*2 new training modules were added 
that will empower members to navigate and influence the political landscape effectively. These modules, Power Talks! Transforming Political Divides into Union Power and PEOPLE PAC: Empowering Union Voices, are designed to strengthen our union’s political engagement and advocacy. 

        

To access the courses, leaders and stewards must go to education.afscme.org and create a new user account.
