AFSCME Council 4 Celebrates the Retirement of Brian Anderson

After years of dedicated service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to working people, Brian Anderson is officially retiring from AFSCME Council 4.
Brian Anderson has dedicated twenty-four years of his career to fighting for and supporting unions and working families across Connecticut. He worked tirelessly at the State Capitol advocating for AFSCME Council 4 members, often spending late nights during the legislative session keeping a watchful eye on our issues.
Brian’s impact can’t be measured just in years served, but in the countless members he stood up for, the contracts he helped secure, and the strength he brought to our union every single day. His steady leadership, deep knowledge, and genuine care for members made AFSCME Council 4 stronger and better because of him.
Throughout his tenure, he helped secure multiple state employee contracts that resulted in wage increases, pension and healthcare protections, and improved working conditions. After more than two decades, the long‑standing “deform” of workers’ compensation was finally corrected thanks to Brian’s tenacity and unwillingness to quit until post‑traumatic stress injury coverage was restored.
Over the past twenty‑four years, it would be difficult to find a labor bill, or any legislation supporting working families, that didn’t benefit from Brian’s input and expertise. Working families and the members of AFSCME Council 4, past and present, have had their lives improved because they had an advocate like Brian Anderson fighting for them.
We sincerely thank Brian for his years of service to AFSCME Council 4 and to our members!
We are grateful for everything Brian has given to this union and to the labor movement as a whole. While we’ll miss seeing him in the office and in the fight, we wish him nothing but happiness, good health, and well-earned relaxation in retirement.
Thank you, Brian, and congratulations on a job incredibly well done!
